I recently hopped on the band wagon with twitter to see what it was all about. I finally understand the lure of tweeting and following...tweeters? I'm now following news sites, comedians, foodies, health sources, and more.
I've kept up to date with current events more in the past week than I had in the previous year. Did you know that it's National Pancake Day today? Did you know about these 11 sci-fi predictions from the past that came to pass? Did you hear about the hoax bomb threat on the Pakistani Jet that diverted to Sweden? Or how about Lindsay Lohan going to jail, again, and getting out early, again? It's just amazing how much one can absorb. Just exercising the old brain!
Speaking of exercising, I wanted to share this quote with you from John Bingham who is a runner, coach, writer, and blogger. I read his book No Need for Speed and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have this quote from him, the penguin, hanging up on my motivation wall. It's taken from his blog on/in the Runner's World website/magazine:
"The simple truth is that when it comes to our bodies, we really do have to use them or lose them. If we let them go to waste, we'll wake up one day and realize that even if we want to run, we can't. By not pushing ourselves, we concede to an inevitable decline, a loss of mobility—a future where we become prisoners in our own bodies.
I've learned that the way to make your body last is to use it. The way to make sure all the internal parts are working is by moving all the external parts. And most important—whether your goal is to run one mile, to complete your first 5-K, or to qualify for the Boston Marathon—understand that your body is a marvelous machine and you are your own mechanic.
Waddle on, friends."
