Tired Epiphanies (or possibly just ramblings)

Ok, so I stayed at work for 15 hours the other night (way past my bedtime) which makes one very tired. But I started thinking of things I could write about in my tired state and here they are - BULLETED:

  • I got some majorly awesome deals at the mall on Sunday, spent over 6 hours shopping without a break, boy was I hungry! But it was worth it. I got a bunch of cute new clothes for a surprisingly low price.
  • It's almost Christmas, can you believe it? Are you ready? It will be 2011 in 9 days!
  • THIS is my new favorite blog - Dinner with Julie. I only discovered her two days ago and I love love love the food and pictures and the commentary is fun too. She is a great chef and the variety of the food awesome. I can't wait to make a lot of the food pictured/blogged about.
  • I've decided I want to go to an Indian restaurant for the lunch buffet. Most of them have buffets layed out for lunch and you can try any and all types of Indian food available which also = AWESOME! Need to try it, LOVE Indian food!
  • We use many acronyms in our everyday language and I wonder if most people even know what they are really saying spelled out. For example DVD - Digital Video Disc or CD - Compact disc. Here are a few more I've thought of (and looked up after I ran out of thought of's), did you know all of these??
    • IMDB - International Movie Data Base
    • VCR - Video Cassette Recorder
    • e-mail - Electronic-mail
    • URL - Uniform Resource Locator
    • Blog - Web Log (Okay this one is a little diff)
    • AKA - Also Known As
    • AM - Ante Meridiem
    • IQ - Intelligence Quotient
    • MO - Modus Operandi
    • PIN - Personal Identification Number
    • SPF - Sun Protection Factor
    • UPC - Universal Product Code
    • AIDS - Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome
  • Ok enough of that. I also need to mention the couple of shows that I've really enjoyed watching lately that are also FREE to watch online.
    • First one is called "Dead Like Me" which is about a girl who dies and comes back as a grim reaper but in a very light hearted and slightly comical way. The show is narrated by this main grim reaper character named George (Georgia) who is only 18 at the time of her death. She is still in the same town after she dies and therefore has the problem of knowing people around, especially her family (mom, dad, and sister) who still live in the house she grew up in. The show revolves around what grim reaping is/means/accomplishes but also the relationships that George forms with other reapers and new co workers and the bonds with her family that is so close by. It's really a neat show and even has a movie that was made after the series ended much like firefly (which is another good show if you haven't seen it). Check it out at www.hulu.com
    • The second is called "Wonderfalls". The plot of this show sounds even more strange but is actually pretty entertaining to watch. The main character in this show is talked to by inanimate objects who tell her to do certain things. At first she just thinks she is going crazy, but soon realizes that when she decided to ignore the advice of the objects, things go awry. It's fun and quirky and light. This one can be found on www.youtube.com by searching "wonderfalls episode 1" for example.
  • And to finish it all off I have to say that I'm loving having Netflix back. We hadn't subscribed for over a year and just resigned up last week. Their database has been greatly expanded to include a great deal more movies of the Instant Watch type. Newer movies like Iron Man can now be watched instantly plus you can now watch them in three mediums - Computer, TV (through gaming console), and smart phone. That's not even mentioning all the videos you can have sent to your house each month. Definitely worth the money.
